Q & A with Catherine Costanzo, Co-Owner of LGZ
Q & A with Catherine Costanzo, Co-Owner of LGZ - Brains & Beauty ~
Q: How would you describe Let’s Get Zen’s philosophy and approach to maintaining a happy client?
A: We have a simple philosophy … creating a safe, judgment-free space in which to practice where clients connect with their inner selves and each other — reaping these benefits both on and off their yoga mats. Our yogis love the positive and accepting energy they find here.
Q: Can you remember your first yoga session? How did you make the decision to go?
A: Wow, it has been so long since my first yoga class! I was in my late 20s and had been a part time “aerobic instructor” in college, so I was coming from a very high energy, music-driven workout environment (think leg warmers and Jane Fonda). I always loved staying fit and thought yoga would be a good extension to my routine. I quickly found it much different and very settling. The more yoga classes I took, the more I preferred it over aerobic centered, group classes.
Q: How have you seen yogis benefit from your Infrared Studio?
A: The infrared heat in our studio is much different than other hot yoga studios in which I have practiced. You can really feel how it helps deepen stretches and poses. Of course you sweat a lot, but that in of itself gives you the feeling of a detoxifying release. So many times I have heard clients comment on how much they love the studio’s heat for all of these reasons. I also love it because it is quiet and clean.
Q: What would you advise to any yoga beginner?
A: First and foremost, begin with an open mind and no personal expectations. Take things at your own pace. Notice without comparing. “Comparison is the thief of joy” is one of my favorite sayings. Remember that yoga is not all about the poses. Breathing, inner focus, and clarity of the mind are also important and beneficial aspects to your practice. And never resist the urge to take “child’s pose” … it always feels so good!
